| In Buenos Aires, Tango means permanent celebration; but during nine days and nights that celebration will certainly be special. The Buenos Aires Tango Festival -now in its 7th year - transforms the whole city into a stage summoning the most assorted expressions of Buenos Aires music, from traditional to vanguard.
These encounters provide a framework for honoring the distinguished masters and discovering new talents, all marked by the generational crossovers that make tango a consistently evolving genre. The festival lays the groundwork for these crossovers to develop and spread: theater concerts, outdoor concerts, free shows in cultural centers and the outstanding bars (tellers of Buenos Aires historical anecdotes and memories), all gauge the Buenos Aires cultural life.Hundreds of artists will be appearing, yet Argentineans and visitors will be enjoying the party by the thousands.
Also, in 2005, a true hub of tango culture will be joining in: El Dorrego, located in the heart of the "barrio" of Palermo, which, during nine days and nights, will be hosting dance lessons, film, milongas and photography, visual arts and design expositionsThe top dancers, the best poetry, the music born in Buenos Aires and spread across the world. A tradition that goes far beyond music and approximates new speakers on new stages. A celebration of the Buenos Ares identity, open to the whole world. |
